Cyber Security Briefings

The NT Government is delivering Cyber Smart briefings for businesses, Not-for-Profit organisations and senior Territorians.

The briefings will support cyber smart practices to protect against cybercrime, including Business Email Compromise and online scams.

The program has a focus on supporting businesses supplying or seeking to supply to Defence with a free Defence and Cyber Ready briefing in Darwin.

Cyber Smart for Business Briefing – Alice Springs

Has your business or one you know been hacked? Do you run a Not-for-Profit?

The Cyber Smart for Business Briefing will detail how you can better protect your business or organisation from cybercrime when transacting online.

Cyber security is a key risk for any organisation and this briefing will update you on key cyber threats and protections you can apply.

The briefing also addresses Business Email Compromise. The most significant cybercrime affecting Territory businesses and Not-for-Profit organisations, with NT Police reporting the average losses per victim business is $70,000.*

This type of cybercrime can involve impersonated emails seeking to divert business payments to criminals via changed bank details or fraudulent invoices.

Businesses and Not-for-Profit organisations are encouraged to attend.

Defence and Cyber Ready Briefing

Does your business supply or intend to supply to Defence?

The Defence and Cyber Ready Briefing is a unique opportunity to receive a Defence Industry Update and be briefed on security and cyber requirements for defence supply.

  • NT Defence and National Security Advocate, Marg Staib AM, CSC providing a Defence Industry Update.
  • Ethical Hacker and Red Teamer Wayne Ronaldson – Ethical hacker presentation on how hackers seek to compromise defence supply organisations. Ronaldson is a red teamer who breaks into buildings and computer systems to test an organisation's cyber and physical security. Ronaldson has presented at international cyber conferences Derbycon, Defcon 2018 and RSA 2019 USA.
  • Australian Cyber Security Centre – on cyber threats and mitigations.
  • Defence Industry Security Program – on program reforms to support businesses to become defence ready
  • Centre for Defence Industry Capability and Prime Contractors Panel – on local defence supply chain requirements.
